Outreach Stories

Closing in on Christmas eve, I went back to a number of outreach articles you contributed to throughout the year, either as co-author or through your work around CERN’s experimental areas and experiments. Physics moves forward in present installations, upcoming operation and future projects, many possible thanks to your diverse contributions in our group: starting from the specialized technical services; challenging engineering studies; coordinating, maintaining, consolidating and upgrading required infrastructure; the excellent beam line design and aiming for increased performance; and all related work packages and projects you lead or are part of. The list below is certainly far from complete, thus please do not hesitate taking the occasion and sending additional contributions around. Saying this, I think it would be wonderful if we could aim in 2021 for a kind of outreach dashboard for our group activities, volunteers welcome!
- The CERN Annual Report published in July and featuring entries on the East Area Renovation, North Area Study, ELENA and many experiments we provide support to, including related physics beyond collider projects
- The North Area getting ready for post LS2 operation
- AD/ELENA getting ready for operation with H- ions reaching GBAR and ALPHA for the first time
- LHC Experiments getting ready with the help of our cabling team
