Integration and Design

Over the past days we spoke about many projects from consolidation to HL-LHC, all of which rely on an important group support activity – our integration and design team. Impossible putting all their 2020 work together in only one slide, today I would like to take you along a little journey, including some not exhaustive examples across the numerous projects many of you contributed to along the year. ALICE where the experiment and the cabling team relied on the scans, reverse engineering and detailed integration work allowing for the best routing possible. AWAKE, addressing not only detailed integration studies for the upcoming Run2 configuration, but also building up the integration model of the former CNGS area to pave the way for a future dismantling endeavour. The East Area Renovation (EAR) project, including the full model in line with on-going reconstruction work, as well as multiple related design and routing studies. HL-LHC and the design and implementation studies, laying the base of this years’ shielding modifications, the TAXN design and first VAX trials. AD/ELENA, with the transfer lines now being commissioned and the final design details for LNE51 ready to serve PUMA in the future. HiRadMat with the preparations of the future extended BA7 laboratory preparing the tables required for the final experiments. EHN2 preparing for the M2 pilot runs of AMBER proton radius, NA64e and MUonE measurements. NA64e, MadMax and NA60+ in EHN1, similarly linked to Physics Beyond Collider studies and projects as highlighted in this years’ European Strategy. NA-CONS and EHN1 with the gas renovation project. nToF in multiple flavours ranging from the beamlines, the overall experimental area and in particular the new target area shielding. The list goes on with ATLAS/CMS surface buildings, the AD hall as such, detailed studies for mechanical elements such as the nToF filter box, our extraordinary CEDAR detector or GIF++ shining and again operating in a new configuration.
