Total gas management

3 DECEMBER,2020 | By Markus Brugger

Today it is time having a first example of one key technical service our group provides not only for our direct group activities, but across CERN: the supply, distribution, and M&O for all primary gas distribution networks, including related design, construction, and consolidation activities. 2020 was an important year where we combined previous separated supply, M&O and contract services in one combined contract-based support forming the new CERN Total Gas Management Service. A collaborative effort across departments, and together with our contract and industrial support colleagues, this essential technical support covered in 2020 already several thousands of gas supply and maintenance tasks. During LS2 we also profit launching and implementing a high number of important construction and consolidation activities, ranging from the East to the North Area and the LHC Experiments. As for other projects and activities in the group, we profit from the many synergies formed across the group, e.g., scaffolding, the mechanical workshop and design office, naming only some of them. Hoping that 2021 will allow us having coffee meetings again together on site, I suggest we profit visiting one of the many gas distribution systems.
